Functionalised Silicas: Addressing the Industrial and Environmental Chanllenges of API Synthesis

Novel high performance functionalised sailicas have been designed that a) allow the selective removal of a wide range of metals from active pharmactical ingredients with enhancd affinity, and b) catalyse a variey of organic reactions, including metal-promoted oxidations and acid-catalysed transformations, effectively replacing stoichiometric amounts of environmentally-unfriendly metal oxidants and strong mineral acids respectively
